Acid washing should be used on a swimming pool only once every few years at the most. The acid washing process is done with the purpose to strip stains and discoloration off of the pool plaster and bring to light a whiter layer of plaster underneath. While the acid washing procedure is completely safe if and when done properly, when it is completed by a technician that is not familiar with it the process can cause harm to swimming pool plaster. This will happen when either a too strong mixture of acid is used or when the acid is either left on the pool walls for an period of time that is too long or the proper stabilizing chemicals are not applied to the acid prior to application to the swimming pool plaster. Because of these reasons make sure that you do not try to acid wash your pool yourself or hire a company that may negligently harm your pool or plaster through incorrect acid washing techniques. |
